These workshops are for emerging photographers who what to better understand and use the "often confusing" functions of their film or digital cameras and then begin to use these functions to make creative high quality photographs.

Fundamentals of Film and Digital Photography
This workshop will cover basic camera operations: f stops, lens focal length, shutter speeds, exposure, ISO, light source, depth of field, white balance and matching film to light and how each of these affect the quality of the image. We will also cover the unique challenges of digital photography: work flow, scanning images, image storage and why it is critical to immediately save and store your images as a file format other than jpgs.

Included:  A three hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up, a guide for your camera and a class guide- $1500.00 (Student must have a camera that can be set to manual - call or email me if you are not sure.) I will need the manufacture and model number of your camera in order to prepare your cameras one page operations guide

Beyond the Basics for both Film and Digital Cameras
This workshop will cover shutter speed, ISO, depth of field and how these can all be used to create, not just take photographs. We discuss the elements of composition that transform an image from good to great. 
Included:  A three hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up, a guide for your camera and a class guide- $150.00. I will need the manufacture and model number of your camera in order to prepare your cameras one page operations guide.

The Art of Photography
This workshop will cover historical examples of Photography as an Art and why they are considered great works of Art. We will then discuss your work and how to use the functions of the camera and compositional elements to move your images forward to become works of art. Included:  A four hour workshop, a class guide + .5 hr on line review of your new work - $200.00

These workshops will teach artists how to successfully and affordably photograph their work, correctly store those digital photographs and have quality images for submissions to juried shows and show brochures. These workshops will not replace the need for professional high quality film images that are required for reproduction.

Photographing 2D Art Work
This workshop is designed for the 2D artists who want to photograph their own work  digitally. The workshop will cover how to avoid keystoneing (where the work is not "square"), how to light the artwork and relevant camera operations, covered in the Basics workshop. The course will include a demonstration on setting up the camera and lights and the type of inexpensive lighting that can be used for this application. We will light and digitally shoot a 2D work of art.  Students must have a camera that can be set to manual and own or have access to a tripod. Included: A three hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up and a workbook - $120.00.

Photographing Large 3D Art Work
This workshop is designed for the 3D artists who want to photograph pieces greater than 12" in height, width or diameter. The workshop will cover how to create lighting arrangements that will attractively and accurately represent a 3D piece in a 2D photograph.. The course will include a demonstration on setting up the camera and lights and we will light and digitally shoot a Large 3D work of art. Included: Three hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up and a workbook - $150.00

Photographing Small 3D Art Work
This workshop is designed for the 3D artists who want to photograph pieces less than 12" in height, width or diameter. Photographing small work is much much more demanding than large pieces: lighting ratios, hot spots and unwanted reflections can be a challenge to say the least. The workshop will cover how to address the pervious issues and teach how to attractively and accurately represent a 3D piece in a 2D photograph. The course will include a demonstration on setting up the camera and lights and we will digitally shoot a Small 3D Work of Art. Included: A four hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up and a workbook- $150.00

Beginning Post Production Workshop - Working with Photoshop Elements / Lightroom
This workshop will cover the basics of workflow: how to download, save and store your images and send them as digital files. We will also cover basic corrections and photo manipulation. Included: A three hour workshop + .5 hr telephone follow up and a workbook - $150.00
